Global Cleantech Innovation Program for Small and medium-sized enterprises SMEs and Startups Launch of the GCIP Call for Awards 2016
UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) is managing a global program called Global Cleantech Innovation Program, Cleantech is a global competition aimed at promotion of Innovations in the area of Clean Technologies. This competition is simultaneously been carried out in seven countries around the world, the main aim of this competition is to foster innovations in Renewable energy, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency and Waste to Energy.
The target market of Cleantech competition is SMEs and Startup companies. This program involves extensive mentoring, training, access to investors and opportunities to showcase their innovations. Winners will be given prizes ranging from US$ 15,000 to 20,000 plus winners will be given further mentorship and training in Silicon Valley, USA. Cleantech is basically a business accelerator program which is aimed at converting the Cleantech ideas into viable businesses.
About Global Cleantech Innovation Program for SMEs in Pakistan
The Global Cleantech Innovation Program (GCIP), currently running in 6 countries, including Pakistan, is a three year programme that aims at developing a sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem, while supporting clean technology innovations in SMEs and startup entrepreneurs to maximize their opportunities to achieve sustainable commercial success. The GCIP for SMEs in Pakistan is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with the support of local and international partners. The Cleantech Open, the biggest cleantech accelerator in the United States of America, is the program's global partner. The program will utilize the Cleantech Open's proven model to support cleantech startups and SMEs for the implementation of the acceleration program in Pakistan.
